am reminded of what <strong>52 Sunday Dinners<\/strong> is all about.\u00a0 Each Sunday one of my wonderful grandkids serves as &#8220;Junior Chef&#8221; for the afternoon.\u00a0 At the time of this writing, I have 10 grandkids and one more on the way!\u00a0 They all love to cook and even more importantly, I love to spend the time with them one-on-one.\u00a0 This Sunday was spearheaded by my third grandson who was very proud of his creation and left with three disks of Chicken Cordon Bleu in a plastic container to add to his school lunchbox for Monday&#8217;s lunch!<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t let the fancy French name fool you.\u00a0 It is actually an American dish.\u00a0 Yes, Cordon Bleu means &#8220;Blue Ribbon&#8221; in French and is the name of a famous cooking school, but Chicken Cordon Bleu is an American creation.\u00a0 Give this one a try.<\/p>\n<h2>Ingredients<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>6 Each &#8211; Fresh (not frozen) Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 Teaspoon &#8211; Salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 Teaspoon &#8211; Ground Black Pepper<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 Teaspoon &#8211; Nutmeg<\/li>\n<li>1 Tablespoon &#8211; Dijon Mustard<\/li>\n<li>12 Slices &#8211; Swiss Cheese<\/li>\n<li>12 Slices &#8211; Smoked Ham or Deli Ham<\/li>\n<li>1 Cup &#8211; All Purpose Flour<\/li>\n<li>2 Each &#8211; Large Eggs<\/li>\n<li>2 Cups &#8211; Breadcrumbs<\/li>\n<li>1 Teaspoon &#8211; Italian Seasoning<\/li>\n<li>1 Teaspoon &#8211; Garlic Powder<\/li>\n<li>3 Tablespoons &#8211; Stick Butter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Preparation<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven at 375 degrees.<\/li>\n<li>Cut chicken breasts using a butterfly technique.<\/li>\n<li>Wrap the bottom and top of the chicken breasts with plastic wrap.\u00a0 Pound breasts using the flat side of a mallet until they are a uniform 1\/4&#8243; thick. <a href=\"http:\/\/52sundaydinners.com\/recipes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Chicken-Cordon-Bleu-Pounding-the-Chicken.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" always, clean-up raw chicken work areas using a strong anti-bacterial cleaner.\u00a0 <a a baking pan lined with heavy duty foil wrap.<\/li>\n<li>Add 3 tablespoons of butter to the bottom of the pan.\u00a0 This will sizzle onto the breadcrumbs and will give them a nice tone.<\/li>\n<li>You may see other recipes that require frying before baking.\u00a0 Frying is not necessary if you use a little butter or spray on a light mist of olive oil. <a approximately 45 minutes or until the internal temperature is 175 degrees.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the toothpicks and slice into 1\/2&#8243; slices.<\/li>\n<li>You may top this with any creamy cheese sauce.\u00a0 This was prepared with a sauce of butter, flour, heavy cream, cheddar cheese and Parmesan cheese.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Feeds 8 adults and a bunch of screaming grandkids including one that
