This is a genius advertising and packaging idea. Among the 5# and 10# bags of potatoes my local grocer is now stocking a surprise, Microwavable Potatoes!
These nice little packages were individually wrapped in plastic. The potatoes were uniform in size and were presented with a nice label on each. Based on the individual price, these potatoes per priced individually with a neat bar code on each. I weighed a few of them and calculated that they were being sold for over $3.00 per pound. In other words, it would cost over $30.00 for a 10# bag!
An alternate to microwaving potatoes is BAKING your potatoes. See This Post,
The alternative to these Microwavable Potatoes is to buy a 3, 5 or 10 pound bag of potatoes or even buy bulk potatoes by the pound. If there is a difference between Microwavable Potatoes and Standard Russet Potatoes? I don’t think so, but if you do, please leave a comment.
