Oriental Beef and Broccoli

This is an easy oriental dish that will be a big hit with your family.  You will notice that this is a similar entree to THIS RECIPE in 52SundayDinners.com, only a little different.  Side dishes include Fried Rice and Egg Rolls.

Ingredients

  • 1 Pound – Lean Sirloin Steak, cubed 3/4″
  • 2 Small – Broccoli Crowns, trimmed and cut.
  • 1 Large – White Onion, cut into 8 pieces
  • 2.5 Tablespoons – Butter
  • 1 Tablespoon – Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 Teaspoon – Dry Granulated Garlic
  • 1/2 Teaspoon – Salt
  • 1/4 Teaspoon – Pepper

Preparation

This can be cooked on a flat griddle made for cooking pancakes, or in a wok.  If you like to show off your cooking skills to your family (self incrimination) you can place the griddle on the kitchen table and simulate the hibachi style developed at Benihana.  Don’t try the knife tricks — please!

  1. Heat the wok or griddle to 325 degrees.
  2. Add all ingredients except the Soy Sauce, which burns and gets “gummy.”
  3. Cook for approximately 20 minutes, turning often to prevent burning.
  4. Add the Soy Sauce when there is approximately 5 minutes left.
  5. Serve right to the plate.
  6. See recipe for fried rice HERE.

I cheated and used per-prepared egg rolls.  We may attempt egg roll in the future, but fill free to pick them up locally for now.

Serves 6 adults and bunch of kids that can’t use chopsticks, not matter how hard they try.
