Comfort food at its best. This is a quick and easy recipe for a great rich shrimp bisque with lobster seasoning. Combine it with garlic bread and salad and you have a real crowd pleaser.
Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 lb Shrimp Tails
- 1 Medium Onion, chopped
- 10 Shallots (Green Onions), Chopped
- 4 Stalks of Celery, chopped
- 4 Tablespoons of Butter
- 4 Tablespoons of Flour
- 6 Cups of Water
- 1 Tablespoon of Lobster Base
- 1/4 Teaspoon of Black Pepper
- 2 Cups of Heavy Cream
Preparation
- Saute Onions & Celery in Extra Virgin Olive Oil in large stockpot.
- When onions become transparent, reduce heat and add Butter, Flour, Water, Shallots (Green Onions), Lobster Base and Black Pepper.
- Continue to cook on low heat setting for approximately 20 minutes. Stir until flour has sufficiently thickened the bisque. Do not bring to a boil.
- Add Shrimp until they become a pink/rose color and begin to firm, approximately 10 minutes.
- Add Heavy Cream and continue to stir for 5 minutes.
- Salt and pepper to taste.
NOTE: Confirm that your guest do not have allergies to shellfish before serving.
